This Privacy Policy explains how Takahiro Mitsui (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information in connection withProject 2049 (the “Service”). We collect only what we need to deliver the reports and run your account.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider).
- Purchase information: your subscription status, the back issues you have bought, and billing history. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers.
- Email activity: whether our emails are delivered, opened, and which links are clicked.
- Usage information: pages visited, time spent reading, device and browser type, and the referring site, collected with cookies and similar technologies.
- Messages you send us.
2. How we use information
- to create and secure your account and give you access to what you have paid for;
- to deliver each report and send service messages (receipts, account and billing notices);
- to process payments and prevent fraud;
- to understand how the Service is read so we can improve it;
- to comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Stripe — payments and the billing portal
- HubSpot — sending the weekly email and managing email preferences
- Google Firebase — account sign-in
- Cloudflare — website hosting and account data
- Segment and Google Analytics — website analytics
These providers may process information in Japan, the United States, and other countries.
4. Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to measure how the Service is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features, such as signing in, will not work without them.
5. Retention
We keep account and purchase information for as long as your account is open and as required for tax and accounting purposes. When you close your account, we delete or anonymize information we no longer need.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can unsubscribe from marketing emails or manage your email preferences using the link in any email.
- You can view and update your account information in your account page.
- Depending on where you live (for example, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and notify you by email of material changes.
